Out of this World Google Presentations

We have just completed our first Science unit:  The Solar System.  As part of this unit and our on-going focus on research, the students chose, researched, and developed a Google presentation on the planet or dwarf planet of their choice.  Some students worked alone, others with a partner, or with a small group.  They used both on-line as well as print resources to learn more about their planet.  We asked questions about our planets and then researched the answers.  Click on the planet or dwarf planet to view the Presentation.  I hope you enjoy them!

Bringing the Outdoors In, Through Math

Recently, in Unit 3 during Math, we worked on measuring to the nearest 1/4 inch and data involving line plots and data landmarks:  maximum, minimum, range, mode, and median.  We practiced our skills outside by measuring things that were abundant in our Sit Spot, pine cones, pine needles, and leaves.   We then worked in groups to organize our data and make a line plot.  The math discussions that took place in these groups were amazing!  Enjoy some pictures of our process…
