Flynn Theater Workshop

The day before we traveled to the Flynn Theater to see “Seussical the Musical”, an amazing Flynn Theater workshop leader, Suzanne, joined us so we could learn more about the show we were going to see.  She told us it was really important to try our hand at acting, similar to what we would see.  We practiced moves to a scene involving Horton the Elephant.  In the scene, Horton is splashing around in a pool and hears a small voice.  He can’t figure out where it is coming from until he sees a dust ball float by in the air.  Realizing the voice must have come from the dust ball, Horton plucks the ball from the sky and carefully places it on a clover.  Below, you will see two halves of our class:  the first half in pictures and the second half in video.  I hope you enjoy watching us as much as we enjoyed performing.

Human Body Guest Speaker

We had the privilege of having one of our parents, who is a physical therapist, talk with us today about how the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems all work together.  Besides having us try some cool experiments, she helped us to think about things that happen in real life.  When we are playing soccer, our nervous system is hard at work telling us which muscles and bones to move as well as taking in information like where the defenders are or where there is a open shot on the goal.  It was great to use what we’ve learned and learn some more!  Enjoy these pictures of our great science visitor.
