On Tuesday, we kicked off our Native American Unit with the Circle of Courage Abenaki drummers from Mississquoi Valley Union High School.  The students played a number of songs, while Brenda, their teacher, taught us a few words in Abenaki.  One stand out song was “Earth is My Body” which was sung in English, French, Spanish and Abenaki.  We also were able to check out some Abenaki rattles and hear some Abenaki flutes.  It was a great way to begin our unit.
