During the month of December (including the last 3 days of November), we’ll be focusing on some word concepts. Children will be learning about and spelling compound words, synonyms, and homophones/homonyms/homographs. We will continue to use spellingcity.com;however, students can either go directly to their group or directly to the listing on the side bar for the concept (e.g. compound words).
To kick off our word study of word concepts, we’ll be working with compound words. Children will bring home a bag on Tuesday, 11/29, to begin collecting compound words around the house-words can either be pictures or small 3-D items. All pictures and items should fit in the bag which will come back to school on Friday. We would also like to invite families and friends to comment to this post with 3-5 of their favorite compound words. We will share your comments in class each day.
